I'm doing this project for school I need to know how to build a computer network for a new building? Need to know where do find capcity, reliabilty, high-level plans, schematic diagrams , pysical connections between various in building components
why my computer is the only one to disconnect in the home network? For some bizarre reason, at random times desktop 1 disconnects from the network. When i say disconnects, the computer sends packages of information but the router does not reply, therefore no connectivity. To resolve the problem i disable and enable the connection from the Network Connections in the control panel. Disconnection may occur anytime, i haven't noticed a pattern. The laptop though, has network connection while desktop 1 doesn't. Ive also tried bypassing the switch and connecting the wire form the router directly to desktop 1 and it still disconnects. With this configuration (wire directly to desktop 1, not through switch) i checked the connection status for the router port that desktop 1 is on, from the router configuration page and it shows that desktop 1 is connected, although desktop 1 sends packages and does not receive a reply. diagram: http://img311.imageshack.us/img311/6427/pcdiagrampk6.jpg

Computer Networking Course homework help? A company's network consists of 40 clients, including some laptops, some desktops, and some peripherals, such as printers. At headquarters, a router connects the company's LAN to the companys ISP through a T1 Link. Connected to the router are 5 switches positioned at different locations within the building. Each network client connects to its nearest switch. Every client is assigned a static IP address based on the group of addresses the company leases from its ISP. The IT staff complains that maintaining these static IP addresses has become burdensome, and will only grow more difficult as they expand. Questions: 1. What steps should the company take to simplify its client IP assignment process? 2. What measures could the company take to help conserve IP addresses as the company grows? 3. Draw/explain a simple network diagram that includes the companys LAN clients, its existing connection to the Internet, and all necessary connectivity hardware to implement these suggestions.
How to place routers within a network to limit access to servers? I have a network diagram which you can see at http://smilehugkiss.com/networkdiagram.jpg Am I right in thinking that computer B1 can get to server A2 but computer A1 can't reach server B2? Thanks for your time. I have a network diagram which you can see at http://smilehugkiss.com/networkdiagram.j... Am I right in thinking that computer B1 can get to server A2 but computer A1 can't reach server B2? Thanks for your time. - - - Thanks Bob F and Jo_P for taking the time to answer and yes it was a typo error. Can I think of a router as follows: a device which views the world as a external network (wan port) and a internal network with a firewall separating the two. Traffic coming into the wan port is only let in in two cases: (i) it has been initiated by a pc on the internal network (ii) a port has been explicitly open on the firewall Therefore this is why I think B1 can get to A2 but A1 would have trouble getting to B2?
In what order do I have to order my network diagram? I have to draw a diagram about small office network, it has 5 desktop computer, a printer, a fax, a server, a hub. And it uses a high speed DSL for internet connection. I don't know what order should be, is it 1. The server-DSL modem-firewall-internet? or 2. Server-firewall-DSL modem-internet? or 3. Server-router-firewall-internet? or 4. Server-firewall-router-internet? or how?? I should use DSL modem or a router or both?? Someone please help me if you know something about it.. Thank you..

How do I connect my new computer to the "network"? (Not the internet)? I just bought a new PC, and I'm trying to set it up. I've connected the monitor and the power cables and everything else - all I have to do now is "connect to the network." I swear, that's all the instructions tell me to do. I have no idea what the hell that means. There's a little diagram of a cable being plugged into the back of a computer. I plug in a cable I find, and now I have no idea where to plug the other end. To sum up, where do I plug in the cable to "connect to [the] network"? This is a secondary computer in my house. The first one has a wireless broadband router, so I'll be using a wireless adapter to connect to the internet.

Help with network diagram? Hi. I'm not sure if i've done my network diagram right because I wasn't sure if i added Peter, Lisa and Julia to it properly. This is my diagram: http://i517.photobucket.com/albums/u339/miss_original19588/networkdiagram.jpg (There is a line connecting Lisa's computer to the rest of the network but it doesn't show up in the image unless it's viewed 100%) The criteria for the diagram is: Provide internet to each workstation to allow for online tax return completion and submission in the Accounts section. Provide for internet to each workstation in the Finance area to able to get quotes on live unit prices on funds. Provide a method of storing and sharing information on a network. Allow for printing from any workstation to at least one printer in each area of the business and for each secretary. Provide for internal and external email. Allow each employee the ability to create and print client invoices. Invoices will be stored in the central location Allow for the secretaries to process any payments and complete accounts at the end of each month Thank-you so much for your help. I wasn't sure if i wa son the right track and was wondering if there's anything i need to change :) P.S. Here's is the business' structure if it's helpful: http://i517.photobucket.com/albums/u339/miss_original19588/Networkdiagram2.jpg
Which IP addresses (static IPs) should I assign to the devices in my network (diagram included) I wish to assign all three of my computers and my xbox static IPs, which do I choose? cant find networked computer using "net view"? ive been trying to set up our network so we can share files and a printer, but i cant get the other computer's network name to show up with "net send". i have ran the network setup wizard on both computers and used the appropriate settings for each. my computer is plugged into a belkin router that assigns 192.168.2.x and this router is connected to another router that assigns 192.168.1.1xx idk if the routers are messing it up or what but im pretty competent with computers so feel free to talk technical. heres a diagram to better illustrate my situation INTERNET MODEM-->LINKSYSROUTER-->COMPUTER2/BELKINROUTER-->COMPUTER1(mine)
network diagram for drawing? am looking for a network diagram of an internet cafe or school around 20 to 50 computers any one know where i can find one on the web that i can draw? thanx
Network Diagram Urgent Please Help!!!? I'm trying to finalise a network diagram in an assignment. I need 2 subnets, with around 50 computers on each subnet. There will be a DHCP server on each subnet, as well as a file server. One of the subnets will need access to an internal website, should this have a web server within this subnet? I was also going to include a mail server on this subnet. I have so far done it as [Internet Cloud] -> [Router] -> [Hub] -> [Workstations, File Server, DHCP Server] (These last 3 all join directly to the Hub. Is this right??? Or should it be [Internet Cloud] -> [Router] -> [DHCP Server] -> [Workstations, File Server]??? How would the IP addressing work??? I have worked out 2 subnets, as well as he address ranges for the DHCP server to allocate to the workstations. How should I set the addresses for the router, hub and servers?

A computer technician has been assigned the task of cabling together five computers, numbered 1-5,? This technician is given the following pieces of information: 1. Computer 1 must be cabled to computer 3. 2. Computer 2 cannot be cabled to computer 5. Make a diagram of the distinct way(s) that the five computers can be placed in the network Question 2: A server is cabled radially to five computers, each of which is cabled to five more computers. 1. If the network continues to expand, with each computer being cabled to five more computers, how many computers will be in the sixth level of the network? 2. Including the server how many computers would be in the network if it were extended to the seventh level? 3. Using the language of bases and exponents, develop a simple method for predicting how many computers will be in a particular level of the network. Thanks for all available help!
What does it mean by "critical" and "non-critical" in Microsoft Project? I am so confusing when looking at the Network Diagram in Microsoft Project. The red means critical, but can you determine if the task is critical or not? Is it done by the computer? And how does it work? Is there any easier way to show the project summary?
Can I connect multiple computers to a hub, and then connect the hub to a wireless bridge in my network? So what I have are two computers and an XBOX 360. Computer A on one side of my house connected by wire to my wireless ADSL router. Computer B and the 360 are side by side on the other side of my house. If I buy a wireless bridge (presuming it only has one ethernet port) and run from it a cable to a hub with both computer B and the 360 connected to it, will that work? Basically the situation would look like this: ROUTER--> wired--> COMPUTER ^-->wireless--> BRIDGE--> wired--> HUB--> wired--> 360 ..... ...... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ^--> wired--> COMPUTER B Is this possible? PS. Assume I can't move my router. (BTW, if that diagram got screwed up because of formatting, that's not my fault.) ;)
Can any one help me design a basic network? Hi all, can you please help with a school project of mine. I have to design basic network of 40 computers, all they gave to do is access the internet, and also please can you let me knwo what components I would need to network it all together. If there any diagrams that can show me please let me know and please bear in mind I am not computer savy so please be as detailed as possible. Thank you
How would I begin to assess whether a brand-name computer has a non-standard power supply unit? Compaq, Dell, E-machines, HP, etc... Is there a year when any one of these main brands started to use standard ATX power supplies? I'm more of a software/networking guy, so I'm also wondering how difficult it is to assess whether an ATX P/S will blow the MOBO on a brand-name computer. I assume I'd go to the Website and look at a diagram of the P/S?
They've Hacked Into My System, AGAIN!? They were getting into my system by way of my router, I fixed that and was good for about 3 months. Now, they are getting in by different route. Here's what I found: Steps 1. click on McAfee 2. click on Manage Network 3. PC's network diagram comes up and shows the following symbols: A. Internet B. Modem C. My Computer D. My Second Network Computer E. A computer 255.255.255.255 F. BROOKE-PC (Intruder) G. DELLE1405 (Intruder) H. DOD (Intruder) I. HPAMD (Intruder) J. OWNER-PC (Intruder) K. SUNNI-PC (Intruder) L. VALUED-C0DCC42 (Intruder) -------------------------- The most recent one to show up is 255.255.255.255 computer. All the other computers were hacked in by way of my router. I have fixed that. I don't know how computer 255.255.255.255 got in. My question is: how do I go about "deleting" these unwanted computers in my system? Is there a step by step procedure? I use VISTA and my computer is an ACER. I use Cable High Speed Access to Internet. I do have a firewall that is activated and running. I changed my router from RF linked to cable linked between my computers and changed the password. That seem to solve the problem, system worked like new for about 3 months. Now, this 255.255.255.255 showed up about 2 weeks ago and my computers are slowing down, other problems and instabilities are occurring. What I want to do is get into my master computer's system and delete these intruder computers. Not sure how to do that or if it can be done. I believe that 255.255.255.255 is getting into my system either from equipment external radiation or they are doing it at or near the cable box. I know its my neighbors as their stalking and other forms of harassment going on around my apartment complex as well. I'm almost thinking about taking the router out of the system all together and just using one computer at a time on the high-speed Internet, and see what happens.
How to make a network with router, hub, switch and pc? I'm trying to make a network like this diagram: http://www.effetech.com/images/hub.gif because i'm using a switch, my packet sniffer program can't work properly. I'm trying the solution given on EFFETECH Sniffer website FAQ: http://www.effetech.com/help/sniffer-faq.htm but what kind of cable and router should i use and how to configure all these network devices? I'm just a second year computer and electrical engeering student and i'm not an expert in Internet and Security so please help me on this. Thanks

Need help with MS-Visio? I have a assignment that's due in in... just over 1 hour. Actually it was due in last week and now I'm late. A part of the assignment requires MS-Visio, and I wasn't in when MS-Visio was explained to everyone else. Can someone just explain to me (hopefully in a fast way) how to use MS-Visio to create a diagram of a computer network?
telephone through network cable? hi, can a telephone circuit be added to a cat5 cable as well as the networking circuits? I see from a a diagram that pairs 4 and 5 are spare, and that is the same colour as a telephone wire first pair. if it was done, would it affect the computer transmission? is it normal practise? thanks, alf.
Computer networking class, and the OSI reference model questions?!? It's my husband's homework, and he really needs me to help him research this topic because he's at work, and has to finish the paper soon. Every site with information that I have found for the OSI Reference Model is close to incomprehensible for me, as computers are not in the least bit my strong point. I'm just having a really hard time understanding the information given to me. If someone could please either explain this model to me or give me the address for a site that is easy to understand that covers this topic thoroughly, so that I can write him an outline to follow when he gets home that would be great. I also need a good diagram of the layers. And could someone please explain to me the purpose of headers and what they are (in relation to the OSI model)? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
(Please!)Need Help for Networking Case study [Anyone can give me a idea for this case study] Thank you so much? ABC is a growing Retail Company. It has several branches in all over the country. These branches exchange information through a wide area network. The staff in this company has many levels like top level management (director, general manager, senior advisor etc.), mid level staff (technical manager, sales manager, system administrator, sales engineer etc.) and bottom level staff (general admin, clerk, customer service officer etc.). Different staff has got different types of access in the computer system. So it is vital to maintain privacy and confidentiality of staff access to the system. Because of a recent database crash the company lost valuable information and now plan to redesign a system which will be error free and stable with proper backup provision of data. The management has decided to appoint a network administrator to design and implement the ABC network You have been hired as an IT consultant and have been given the task of designing a network solution for ABC Company. Develop a design strategy to implement the ABC computer network. You must fulfil the following requirements for ABC computer network. a)Ensure user accounts are controlled b)Ensure secure file and resource access c)Monitor threats to the network Design and draw a logical and physical diagram of the network. Make a research and specify hardware and software requirement of your solution. Make some suggestion of the type cable and topology you would use. Your answer should include: •An alternative Fibre optic as data communication media •Wireless alternative •In-house versus outsourcing regarding Web-site •Type of backup media •In-house or outsourcing IT services I have no more detail about this case. How do I make Vista and XP computers see each other in a network? I have a small office wireless network with 2 XP and 3 Vista Laptops. I have downloaded the fix from Microsoft that allows XP machines to be discovered. My problem is that 2 of Vista machines show the XP machines on the 'Network Map' diagram, but I cannot see them in the Network window so I can access them (the other Vista one works fine). I have turned on the Discovery and Public File Settings in Vista Networking options. I don't think it is a Norton problem as one of 2 doesn't have it. Is there something I am missing? Yep, all in the same 'WORKGROUP', have done the net view from my XP laptop, all present and correct.

Need help extending my wifi network. Mission Impossible? Alright, here's the deal, this may be impossible... but i'll see if you guys have any advice. I have a wireless router i'm accessing from across the street (it's my family's don't worry i'm not stealing) and I can receive the internet to my wireless computer, but not on my iPod, so I was wondering if there's a way to hook up another wireless router to my CPU and have that make a new network that can access the internet. I can't seem to figure it out, or find anyone as stupid as I am, so hopefully you guys have some ideas. Here's the best diagram I could make: Internet > Router A > Wi-fi > My Computer > Router B > Wi-fi > iPod Hopefully that makes sense. OR if you guys have any other ideas. Router A is a LinkSys WRT54GX-v2 Router B is a Zyxel is a P-334WT I'm down for hacking either of these, but from what I read neither are compatible with OpenWRT I don't understand the USB thing...
Is my desired network grossly stupid in any way? Thank you for taking a look at my question I apologize in advance if my diagram is formatted poorly. I believe I have described my desired set-up enough in the body of the question but if I have not, please don't hesitate to call me on it. I was looking to clean up a bit of clutter around the house and change my network set-up. What do you think of: A cable modem plugged into a network switch (like the NETGEAR GS108 10/100/1000Mbps ProSafe Gigabit Ethernet Desktop Switch), who's cables are routed through the walls and with each room having at least 1 RJ45 socket in the wall. Each room of the house will have at least one wall jack in which a computer can be plugged in to receive internet access and each of my two wireless routers would be fed as well (one being placed in the attic above the second floor alongside the switch; the other being placed in the pantry on the ground floor). The company I work for now has me running ethernet cables for all of the new offices being erected. I've been given the go-ahead to borrow the crimpers and have up to a 1000 ft of CAT5 (seriously). Essentially, I would only need to buy: the switch itself, a few new face-plates for jacks in the wall, and a few 8P8C modular plugs & sockets. 1: Does anyone see any possible security issues? 2: Am I missing any major mechanics of a switch? (for instance, in order to network 2 PC's giving them both internet access and access to each other's shared files would I need anything more than: a modem, switch 2 ethernet cables and 2 PCs? If so, what and why?) 3: Aside from the fun job of crawling in my attic and using fish tape, can anyone thing of any reasons why this would be stupid? (As opposed to just kind of...unusual) *It's also worth noting that for wireless security, I use WPA Personal as my roommates have a nasty habit of being unable to enter in WEP hex codes. Should I stop this, and step up my security/is this a non-factor in most cases. ......Cable ..........| Cable Modem ..........| .....Switch=====================| | .....| | | | | |............................................| | .....| | | | | |.............Downstairs Router......Upstairs Router .Each Room's Networked PC I have two LINKSYS WRT54GL IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g Wireless-G Broadband Routers and a Motorola SURFboard® Cable Modem SB5101. The Modem's specs say, "Supports up to 63 users" but I am not sure how this pertains but if I understand correctly, I'll need to go: CoAx Cable->Modem->Linksys Router->Switch in order to be able to assign a different IP address to each computer? And to those complaining about length, please consider there are a number of factors to take in: Overall cost, security, labor involved, appearance, and ease access. If you can't be bothered to read all the info, or suggest what needs to be trimmed, kindly ignore my question. Thanks.
Please help me this network problem. This is urgent? After long years of standalone usage of your company LAN, your Manager has been able to get the desired WAN communication connectivity between your different company offices . The Class C Network ID for the company is 195.168.160.0. You are forced to use routers with WAN interfaces due to the geographic spread of the company's area of operation. As advisor to the manager you are suggesting that the Company goes in for creating 6 subnets. What would be the new subnet mask assigned to the various company offices. What would be the new subnet mask assigned to the routers. Mark the communication path and data units at each layer as applicable on the OSI model, between Computer A4 in company office location A through the two routers on to Computer B4 in company office at location B. Also draw the corresponding TCP/IP(DARPA) (layer diagram only)
The diagram depicts an IP telephone connected to a switch? The diagram depicts an IP telephone connected to a switch. Also connected to the switch are two computers, directly connected to one of the computers is a standalone printer. Refer to the description above. What two types of devices are the printer and the IP phone? (Choose two.) The IP phone is a peripheral. The IP phone is a host. The IP phone is a network device. The printer is a peripheral. The printer is a host. The printer is a network device.
Illustrate how to route cables in detail.? There are 10 computers in the building, five on each floor. You are required to give all of them Internet access using only one DSL or high-bandwidth connection. Hence there will only be one entry point for internet in the building. Share this connection across ten computers. Here's what I made so far. (Network Diagram) http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o50/eibhrum/proposal.jpg Summary: - A cable modem plugs in to the cable coming from the wall.nThe cable router then plugs into the cable modem, and transfers the signal to your the 5 computers located in the 1st floor. I added a switch so that the connection would still be in tact. Also, I've added a wireless router. This has wi-fi acess point located near the 2nd floor. all of my 5 computer are connected to this wi-fi access through w/lan card. Now, what i'm trying to find out is how to able to route cables (Cat5e) for the floors. Any suggestions/comments for improvements?

Network Audit And Management Software? Hi, I was hoping someone could recommend/suggest/mention a piece of software suitable for network management and audit. I'd like it to show a list/diagram of all users on the network and their details. A system for blocking IP's/MAC's/SSID's from getting network/internet access. A way to send messages to the computers in a winchat style system. Any extra features are welcome. Any software suggestions are welcome, even if it only posses 1 or 2 or any of those specified features. BTW, Plz dont suggest Network Magic. Ive tried it, its too low level, not enough control.

HELP!! Wiring advanced home network? Hello everyone. Well let me give you some specs of my network, I have 2 laptops running off of a WAP (Wireless Access Point). Two desktop computers running off of a Router, and a Compaq Proliant 6000 server running Windows Server 2003 with 1 gigabit ethernet card and 2 10/100 ehternet cards. Right now, the way everything is hooked up, I only get about 3.0mbps transfer on ftp inside the network. I need to get it at least to the 80mbps range inside the network. Currently im using a netgear wireless router, and two Linksys NR041 routers. i have forwarded everything correctly on the routers. All access to the server is correct, nothing is blocked except what should be. Can anyone give me a good idea as to how I can set this up well enough to at least get to 20mbps transfer rate. Remember, this is internally, not going out the internet connection, I want this speed inside my network. If anyone can give me some hints or even draw me a diagram and tell me what I should buy.. Thanks! The wireless router is the main router. From there, a cable runs 25 ft to a Linksys NR041, from there, it runs another 25ft to another Linksys NR041. 2 wireless and one wired connect to the first router. I am using the second router as a hub, but I can easily connect anything to it. The third goes to my room, where the server is. The reason im using routers instead of actually switches or hubs is because I already had these devices, and I cant waste much money. (Im a high school student) I am running Cat5e, My firewalls are all configured to allow file sharing and to all complete freedom between the computers on the internal network. My router only allows computers with pre-registered mac addresses to connect and get an IP. The first router is running as the DHCP server, and it is 192.168.1.1 the second is 192.168.1.2 the third is 192.168.1.3 DHCP is turned off on the last 2 routers. My server is running FTP and file sharing. hope this helps a bit more Btw, im running abg on my wireless router. All computers including the server are running Windows XP and one is vista. The server is Windows Server 2003 and will eventually be either Server 2007 or FreeBSD
networking question? Case Study: DMS Associates DMS Associates is a consulting firm located in Eastern City. Fifty people work in its home office in two buildings in a business complex. An additional 25 employee’s work from remote locations. DMS Associates is adding another 25 employees by opening a third location, Building C, elsewhere in Eastern City. Building C was purchased with its existing technology infrastructure intact. DMS Associates has asked you to evaluate and analyze the company's existing technology infrastructure and security for its network as reported below and to recommend a best practices approach to integrating the data communication, computer networks, and telephone systems of the three locations with a focus on security that is seamless. The goal is to create a company-wide technology infrastructure which supports seemingly seamless connectivity and data flow. Building A Staff: 25 employees. The IT operation is housed here. Networking: Three departmental LANs: Business and Finance Office, Staff Consultants, and Administration. These LANs all run Windows 2000 Advanced Server. 25 Remote workers have dial-in access to the network through a modem pool. E-mail service runs on an Microsoft Exchange Server using Outlook as the client software. Phone Service: The local and long distance phone service from Local Telephone Company through a leased PBX. Phone services include Voice Mail, Call Waiting, Call Forwarding. Internet Access and Usage: All offices in Building A have Internet Access through the network via a T-1 line to the company's ISP, Sharethenet.com. Software Applications: All employees are provided with Microsoft Office Professional suite of applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access. The Company's financial systems run on Great Plains Accounting Software. Great Plains is used for personnel information, payroll, inventory, accounts payable, accounts receivable, quarterly and annual reports, and tax documentation. Building B Staff: 25 employees; 20 are staff consultants, the other five include a branch manager, receptionist, custodians, and an IT support person. Networking: The network consists of a single LAN running under Windows 2000 Server. E-mail Service is via a POP3 client through Internet to Building A's Exchange e-mail server. Phone Service: The local and long distance phone service from Local Telephone Company through a leased PBX. Phone services include Voice Mail, Call Waiting, Call Forwarding. This service is not connected directly to the Building A system. Internet Access and Usage: All offices in Building B share Internet Access through the network via the company's ISP, Sharethenet.com. Software Applications: All employees are provided with Microsoft Office Professional suite of applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access. This location is unable to access the Great Plains financial software directly, and uses FTP to upload data weekly from an Access database. Building C Building C is located in a different section of Eastern City. Staff: Twenty-five people will work in this building. It is anticipated that staff composition will be the same as in Building B: 20 staff consultants, a branch manager, receptionist, custodians, and an IT support person. Networking: Two independent local area networks exist. Novel NetWare was used as the network operating system. Phone Service: The previous company had local phone service is provided by Local Phone Company, and long distance phone service are provided by a Sprint reseller. Internet Access and Usage: The previous company had 5 have dial-up Internet access accounts for company business use through AOL. Software Applications: Existing computers are provided with Microsoft Office Professional suite of applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access. The previous company used Excel for accounting purposes, and Access for Inventory, Job tracking, customer records, etc. Payroll services were subcontracted to ADP. Weekly batch uploads of employee data from Excel were made to ADP. In Your Paper: In your Final Project Paper use the information presented below to develop and describe a data communications and computer networking plan to meet these criteria: 1.The three local area networks in building A are to be interconnected. 2.The networks in buildings A & B, which are close together, are to be interconnected. 3.The new building, building C, is to be inter-networked with the other locations using its existing technology infrastructure wherever possible, though some changes may be made if absolutely required for smooth integration. 4.Employees in all locations are to have access to the Internet through dedicated T-1 lines to a single ISP. 5.Telephone service for the three buildings is to function as a single system so that any phone in any building may reach any other phone using only the extension. 6.All employees are to have voice mail. 7.All employees are to have e-mail through the exchange server in building A including the remote workers. 8.In writing your paper describe the choices you would make in terms of the type of network, the connecting medium, the data communication model being followed. 9.Explain why your choices reflect today's best practices in data and voice communication. Be specific in your reasons, including the characteristics of each choice and explaining why they are appropriate for each task. 10.Diagram the data flow for each task using the drawing tools in Microsoft Word.
My third question is about DNS? a) Define the terms network ID and subnet mask. b) Identify the class of IP addresses that will be used for an organisation having a network of computers between 1000 to 1500. Explain your reason for arriving at this solution. c) Using the site http://www.4domains.com, check that the domain name you desire is still available (assuming that it would be registered). d) Design a subnetting system for the organisation in question, each subnet should contain no more than 100 computers. Show the overall network using a diagram. Support your proposal with sound technical arguments. e) Describe the range of IP addresses in at least TWO of the subnets.
Wireless Help PLEASE (Part 2!!!!)?? I have finally got my GF's laptop to "see" her wireless router (many thanks to Dave P) However I have taken the Ethernet cable out of her old modem and put it into the BT Voyager, but it isn't picking up the Internet, Orange gave my GF a load of numbers to set up the router, some of these numbers are DNS Primary, DNS Secondary VC1 and VP1 and a couple of other "settings" Do I have to use all these, I can not find where or how to at all. On the network page it has the follwing diagram Computer - - - - BT Voyager - - X - - - - Internet The cross obviously meaning the internet isn't getting to the Voyager. Thanks so so much in advance If you can help, I have had to plug the old modem in to ask this!!! I'm not getting the option to re-new IP??

After Upgrade from Win XP to Vista Home Premium wireless internet no longer works. Linksys WMP54G v4.1? With Vista, the wireless card also connects to the router, but not to the Internet. Let me explain. In the Network and Sharing Center view, it show that the computer is connected to multiple networks, but the multiple networks are not connected to the Internet. (There’s a big red X between the multiple networks icon and the Internet.) When I click the red X and ask for a diagnosis, it says “There is more than one active network connection on this computer”. There are in fact two networks identified below the link diagram that I described above. One is to my private network and the other is to a public network. When I try and disconnect either one, both disappear. Is there a way to get rid of this public network, but leave my private network connection working? Based on the diagnosis, I think that this extra network is the problem, but could the problem be something else? By the way, I know the router is working because I can access the Internet wirelessly through my laptop.
wifi network connections? I have a Dell PC using XP and have bought a Dell Laptop using Vista. The PC modem/router is D-Link DSL504T and the wireless router is a Belkin G Router. I want to be able to access internet/email on either computer at the same time. I also have a D-Link DVG2001S phone router for voip. The instructions provided do not seem to allow this. How can I configure the routers to make it work? A diagram would be helpful if possible as well as instructions. Jim Also can I get an attachment to allow printing with wifi from the laptop.

Need file backup advice? Here's the deal. I am trying to back up all data on all (about 5) workstations of the company(it is a landscaping company). They do not have a server. Each computer has different files to backup. One has project diagrams where we do the designs, one has all customer information stored, one has employee information etc... The company has about 2000 customers. I was thinking an external hard drive but the computers are not networked so that would take some time going to each computer all the time. Another question, to have an off site server backup all the information, wouldn't we need a server?
